Community Guidelines

The Frolic & Forage Society exists to help grown-ups make things, explore their curiosity, gather with others, and bring a little more wonder into everyday life.
This community is built on kindness, creativity, generosity, and respect. We believe people from different backgrounds and experiences can gather around the same table, learn together, and leave one another better than they found each other.
These guidelines help us protect that kind of community.
Stay Curious, Stay Kind
Lead with curiosity. Assume there’s more to learn. Ask questions before making assumptions, and choose generosity whenever you can.
Treat one another with kindness and respect, even when you disagree. Remember there’s a real person behind every screen.
Healthy discussion is welcome. Personal attacks, harassment, bullying, intimidation, hate speech, or deliberately inflammatory behavior are not.
Choose Generosity
One of the best gifts we can offer one another is encouragement.
Choose to celebrate someone else’s progress, to welcome beginners, to share what you’ve learned, and leave people feeling more encouraged than when they arrived.
Generosity has a way of multiplying. We hope you’ll help make this the kind of place where people leave feeling seen, encouraged, and eager to extend that same generosity to someone else.
Celebration Over Comparison
Our badges, projects, prompts, and challenges are invitations to make, explore, gather, and grow. They’re less about certifying your skills and more about celebrating your story.
There is no prize for doing the most, making the prettiest thing, or collecting the most badges.
Whether you’re trying something for the first time or returning to a handicraft you love, your journey is your own. Every step, every attempt, and every bit of curiosity is worth celebrating.
Honor Creative Work
Please do not repost, redistribute, or sell Frolic & Forage Society resources unless we have specifically given permission in writing.
Society resources are provided for your personal use and the activities of your independent local group unless we state otherwise.
If you share something inspired by our society resources, we’d love to see it. Tag us if you can! On substack tag us @frolicandforagesociety and on Instagram and Facebook @dmicheleperry #frolicandforagesociety
Please also respect the creative work of other members.
Making Room at the Table
We hope this always feels like a table with room for one more chair.
Help make this a place where people feel safe to ask questions, share imperfect projects, celebrate one another, and try new things without fear of criticism.
That means treating one another with kindness, assuming good intentions when possible, and remembering there’s a real person behind every screen.
If a comment or conversation makes the community feel smaller instead of more welcoming, it’s probably worth reconsidering before you post.
Independent Troops
Many members choose to gather locally in independent Frolic & Forage Society troops.
Local groups are independently organized by community members. They are not official chapters, franchises, representatives, or agents of the Frolic & Forage Society or Designed to Thrive Creative, LLC.
Troop leaders and participants are responsible for their own gatherings, activities, and local decisions. Check our FAQs for specifics.
Looking Out for Each Other
If you see behavior that violates these guidelines or the spirit of our community, please let us know instead of escalating the situation publicly. You can email us at frolicandforagesociety@substack.com
We’ll review reports thoughtfully and may remove content or limit participation when necessary to protect the community.
How We Approach Moderation
We reserve the right to remove content, restrict participation, or suspend access to our community spaces if these guidelines or our Terms & Conditions are violated.
Not every situation fits neatly into a written rule. We may use reasonable judgment when making moderation decisions to protect the health, safety, and welcoming spirit of the community.
Our goal isn’t simply to enforce rules, but to preserve the kind of community where people feel safe to create, gather, and grow together.
The comment sections are intended for discussion of the post. Questions about collaborations, services, business inquiries, or personal matters should be sent to and discussed by email. Off-topic or repetitive comment threads may be removed at our discretion.
Our Hope
We hope this is a place where curiosity is encouraged, generosity is contagious, and wonder is woven into everyday life.
A place where you’ll make something with your hands, explore something that sparks your curiosity, gather with people who make you brave, and grow in ways that surprise you.
Most of all, we hope you’ll discover that wonder is even better when it’s shared.
